Yak 52
Jet Flight
On arrival at the XX Hanger, you will be introduced to the L29 Jet and your flight suit and helmet. She is no toy and in 2008, two Hot L-29s took first and second at the Reno Air Races consistently posting laps at or above 500 miles per hour ( 820 Km/hr.) Her range is 893 Km with the wing tanks and can climb at 2755 ft per minute. The Soviet Air force chose the L-29 as the Jet trainer for all the Eastern Block forces and 3500 were built. It has an enviable safety record. The sturdy L-29 is able to operate from grass, sand or unprepared fields.
The L29 was built to train military pilots however now you can experience the same forces and thrills.
You will see the hard points to carry up to 200 Kg of gun pods, bombs or rockets we have Drop Tanks on ours giving a longer range You will also see the controls for these in the cockpit.
You will experience high G forces however Pete will check your comfort at the various levels to meet your comfort needs. Peter will explain the safety requirements, the chatter to the tower and between you two, the flight from the take off, the route and distance, the speed runs at low altitude, the Barrel and Aileron also if you're up to it the loop and to conclude, low approach and overshoot at speed before joining downwind to land.
Of course there is the video of you during the flight to go with the package and some pictures of you and the Jet.
The flights start at $980 plus the fuel this goes up when you include a longer flight up the Coromandel coast returning through the mountains with aeros and thrills being the number one package. For the less ambitious this scenic flight of the local area provides an enjoyable flight experience in a Russian Yak 52. The Yakovlev Yak-52 (Як-52) is a Soviet primary trainer aircraft which first flew in 1976. It is still being produced in Romania by Aerostar, which gained manufacturing rights under agreement within the now defunct COMECON socialist trade organisation. The Yak-52 was designed originally as an aerobatic trainer for students in the Soviet DOSAAF training organisation, which trained both civilian sport pilots and military pilots.
